Selection of Detection System of CMM
A typical CMM inspection system consists of four parts: the measuring probe quill, the probe extension, the Stylus adjustment or extension, and the stylus.
1. Probe
Probe types include contact, non-contact, manual and automatic. Manual contact probes require user intervention, so that the component program needs to be paused at the connection point, thereby increasing the measurement time directly controlled by the computer, affecting the measurement accuracy. The selection of the probe should take into account the target accuracy.
2. Probe extension
The choice of probe extension depends on the type of measurement required, the accuracy of the measurement, the quality of the probe used, and the stiffness of the probe joint. The probe extension is located between the probe and the trigger tip.

3. Probe extension selection
Stylus expansions and adapters enable measurements to help probes detect hard-to-reach places. The components used include a steering knuckle and a star stylus. A simple extension and M3 / M2 and M5 / M4 adapters allow the probe to be connected with different thread sizes. It should be noted that if the stylus used is smaller than the size of the thread, the stiffness of the probe can be reduced, thus reducing the accuracy. Use a stylus larger than the probe line, which will cause the wrong trigger.
4. Styli selection
The selection of the probe mainly considers two points, that is, to meet the contact requirements, and the measurement of all points on the work-piece is undisturbed and repeatable at the contact point.
