What is the working process of a CMM

2024-10-16

The working process of a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) generally includes the following steps:

A. Preparation:

Make sure the Measuring Machine is in good working order and carry out necessary calibrations.

Prepare the workpiece to be measured and ensure that it is firmly fixed to avoid movement during the measurement process.

B. elect measurement program:

Select appropriate measurement programs or write new measurement programs based on measurement needs. This usually involves setting measurement points, measurement paths and measurement methods.

C. Set measurement parameters:

Enter measurement parameters such as measurement accuracy, speed, Probe type, etc.

D. Perform measurement:

Start the measurement program, and the three-coordinate measuring machine will automatically move the probe to the preset measurement point.

The probe contacts the workpiece surface and records the three-dimensional coordinates (X, Y, Z) of the point.

E. Data processing:

The coordinate data collected is transferred to a computer for processing.

Perform data analysis through Software, generate measurement reports, and compare actual dimensions with design dimensions.

F. Result Output:

Output measurement results, including deviation analysis, pass or fail judgment, etc.

Charts or reports can be generated for subsequent analysis and recording.

G. Follow-up processing:

Based on the measurement results, make necessary adjustments or improvements.

Clean the measuring equipment and prepare for the next measurement.

The entire process requires operators to have certain professional knowledge to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurements.
